Inspiring Female Founder Spotlight: Rebecca Barr

Rebecca Barr activates ambitious female entrepreneurs to make more money by creating a rock-solid money mindset and by leveraging their time & expertise. Rebecca left her successful HR career to set up her business, The Femalepreneur Coach, to help other women become wildly wealthy through powerful money mindset work and simple business strategies. After a traumatic start in life that included homelessness and losing her father very young, she refused to believe the childhood story she’d been told that she would never have money, and in fact, has created phenomenal success on her own terms. She is passionate about empowering others to write their own money story and never settle, something her clients achieve in abundance. She’s on a mission to change the money narrative for women around the world.

Can you tell us a little about your background and the company?

I started my entrepreneurial journey in 2014 after an unexpected departure from my corporate career in HR, due to issues with childcare when my Mum suffered a stroke and my employers were unable to accommodate any form of flexible working. I relocated myself and my children to Surrey after purchasing a Barber shop.

I quickly expanded my business portfolio, which has since been consolidated to create space and focus for my coaching business. I now support ambitious women in business to grow their businesses online using a mix of energetics, mindset and strategy through my business, The Femalepreneur Coach.

How did the idea come to you for the company?

I was mentoring young entrepreneurial women at my local university and observing at networking events with other women in business, how they really struggled to scale past six figures at an energetic, mindset and practical level.

I realised first hand that success is only 20% strategy and 80% mindset, so I wanted to support more women at the deepest level, to create true financial and practical freedom.

How did you achieve awareness?

I started small locally by attending networking events and building my connections in business. I moved online prior to COVID and expanded my reach massively by utilising social media and online platforms. I launched my podcast and proactively leveraged media opportunities and collaborations to build a community.

How have you been able to gain funding and grow?

I prioritised creating positive cash flow in my business and creating a buffer as external funding is so limited for small business owners. Only 1% of VC funding is allocated to female owned businesses. I kept my outgoings small and scaled my outgoings incrementally as my income grew.

What are the key successes?

I have been featured in many prestigious publications such as GQ Magazine, The Female CEO Magazine and The Daily Mail and won a prestigious business award for entrepreneurship which has been amazing at expanding my reach and community. My biggest achievements are all resulting from my client’s results. I have helped women leave unfulfilling relationships and become financially independent, leave corporate jobs so that they could spend more time with their children and build profitable businesses that don’t require them to burn out or be overwhelmed.

What were/are the challenges and how have you overcome these?

Having very little start up funding restricted my ability to scale in the first couple of years and meant I could take less risks, while balancing family commitments. I learned to play the long-game in business and focus more on sustainable long-term strategies instead. I sacrificed a lot of time with my children (and my health) when running my initial retail businesses but have now found that balance by moving my businesses online.

What are your plans now/for the future?

My mission has grown bigger than ever so I intend to reach more women this year than ever by writing my first Money Mindset book which I am super excited about. I will also be hosting more in-person events to expand my audience and create more intimate containers for connection amongst women.

What would you like to share with others to encourage them to start their own entrepreneurship journey?

Listen to your intuition, and lean into what feels good and plays to your unique strengths and talents. Don’t be afraid to take risks or fail, it’s valuable feedback, builds your resilience as an entrepreneur and leads to creating something truly innovative and unique.

Can you share your top tips for entrepreneurial success?

Always think of the bigger picture and learn to play the long game. Be strategic and ensure you always have your end goal in sight so you don’t allow yourself to get distracted or taken off course by doing the things you think you ‘should’ be doing. Never listen to people’s advice who you wouldn’t want as an ideal client.

Who are the 5 people who inspire you the most and why?

Oprah because of her incredible commitment to being a light in this world and giving others a platform to do the same

Gary Vaynerchuk for his transparency about the work that goes on behind the scenes of a successful business and his confidence to be outspoken

Jen Sincero for her humour that she brings to personal development

Gabrielle Burnstein for her spiritual teachings

Kim Kardashian-West for her ability to reinvent herself, adapt to her audience and create an empire.

What are your favourite inspirational /motivational quotes?

I love the Steve Jobs quote below

Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently – they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.
