Inspirational Female Founder Spotlight: Asal Shirazi Bem, Jeunvie

Asal Shirazi Bem is the founder of Jeunvie. A terminally ill mother of 5 who despite her daily challenges, who wanted to leave a healthy legacy for her children by creating safe, chemical free, eco sustainable skincare. Her own condition is as a result of environmental factors such as chemicals in skincare. Her skincare is formulated by herself to be safe & suitable for cancer patients & sensitive skin. She has received an honour from our Queen and European Governments for founding this and helping relieve human suffering.

Can you tell us a little about your background and the company?

I studied medicine, went in to research, worked at Merck Pharmaceuticals, then became a lawyer, aromatherapist and holistic skincare practitioner before putting my knowledge & experience in to my own formulations.

How did the idea come to you for the company?

After I found out my own illness is due to environmental factors and the contribution of skincare ingredients to triggering autoimmune conditions

How did you achieve awareness?

Lots of hard work, competitions, independent reviews, charitable work & free sampling over a period of 10 years.

How have you been able to gain funding and grow?

We are now UK’s biggest vegan skincare exporter. Funding comes from sales but originally from personal funds

What are the key successes?

Top skin innovation awards,  recommended and approved by top UK surgeons and aestheticians. Stocked in UK and USA and Middle East. Personal honour by HRH The Queen. Helping humanity by relieving suffering if those with sensitive skin & skin conditions through the power of plants. Creating first vegan stem cell serum.

What were/are the challenges and how have you overcome these?

Education and knowledge about plant power is key. we now have top UK surgeons who have tested and approved our products and use them for their own patients as they are safe skin nutrition. We give seminars and awareness talks in Europe, USA and UK. Our biggest challenge has been effect of covid and Brexit on suppliers due to delays and increasing cost. We are still working on these issues as the global affect of covid is still going on. We attend and keep on top if latest exhibitions, scientific research to be able to keep up with trends and market movement.

What are your plans now/for the future?

Continuing to grow and educate. This is a lifestyle change and not a fad so establishing good knowledge and awareness takes time. Our next move is stocking in Paris.

What would you like to share with others to encourage them to start their own entrepreneurship journey?

Persevere. if you believe in what you do, then don’t give up when facing challenges. adapt and push on.

Can you share you top tips for entrepreneurial success?

Networking, listening to others with experience, take criticism as a positive & learn from it. Persevere. Patience. Adaptability.

Who are the 5 people who inspire you the most and why?

My 5 children.  Stephen Hawkin who despite physical challenges kept his brilliant mind engaged & didn’t give up. All those brilliant mums with autoimmune disease who still soldier on for their kids and family.

Nothing is impossible, just needs tweaking!
