Lucie Hyde is Managing Director and Founder of LNH Transport.
Can you tell us a little about your background and the company?
I’ve worked in the transport and logistics industry for over 20 years and have always enjoyed the fast-paced environment. It’s a tough industry to work in and it does have many challenges, it’s highly competitive and fast-moving but I love it, no day is the same and no job is the same, it definitely keeps you on your toes!
LNH Transport are UK and Europe dedicated transport specialists, providing tailored and fully flexible logistics and warehousing services. We guarantee safe, reliable and trackable delivery services including 24-hour, next day and express haulage options. We also offer a within the hour collection service in most areas of the UK with a door to door direct dedicated service for any sized cargo.
Our solid reputation within the haulage industry has been built on value for money, customer service and flexibility.
We’re more than just a transport partner, we provide customers with short and long-term storage solutions available, as well as repacking, relabelling, and restacking options, making your logistics smooth and straightforward.
We’re based in Warrington, Cheshire but collect and deliver throughout the UK and Europe. We are proud members of the RHA, UKWA and Warrington Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
How did the idea come to you for the company?
I was working as a director of a transport company when I left to set up LNH Transport in 2011.
One of the key drivers for this was having different ideas on what the company ethos should be. My passion is to provide exceptional customer service, open communication and bespoke transport solutions and I wanted to be in a company that really resonates this from director level through to every single customer. So, I decided to start LNH to ensure my work truly reflected my passions and beliefs.
How did you achieve awareness?
At the beginning of the business, awareness was very much built with strong networking skills and onboarding employees with good industry experience. Having already worked in the industry for 10 years myself before starting LNH, my network was healthy with like minded customers and partners who supported and understood my passion and ethos for the business – but I still had to prove to them that I was capable of doing this within my own business.
Once we were able to showcase our excellent customer service through some key customer case studies, our strong reputation started to speak for itself, and we maximised this with key marketing activities.
How have you been able to gain funding and grow?
For the past 11 years, we’ve been focused on organic growth, investing in the right people and reinvesting profits to ensure our employees and customer are happy and that our business is steadily growing for the long term.
Investing in the right teams is key to building business success, from employees to third-party suppliers, having the right people on our side has really enabled us to grow to the business we are today.
What are your plans now/for the future?
We will be focussing on continued growth and scaling the business, mainly through investing in our staff and recruiting for those who believe in providing a quality experience that gives priority to first-class customer service.
At LNH, we are also growing our client base through our expertise and knowledge of logistics in specific sectors. Our plan as a business is to expand our already growing list of industries, including retail, UK manufacturing, e-commerce, pharmaceutical, medical equipment, machinery, specialist tooling, high-end retail shop refit design companies and many more.
Can you share your top tips for entrepreneurial success?
Persistence, hard work, resilience, and determination!
It’s tough starting your own business. You really need to have thick skin at the start and remember why you started the journey to get you through the hard times. Some of the most important things I try to remember are to just be yourself, be respectful, take some risks and be kind to yourself and others during the process!
One thing I say to my son every morning is, be kind, be brave and have fun. This really resonates into all aspects of my life, especially when focussing on business success, because what’s the point if you’re not having fun and enjoying what you do every day!
Also, listen to your customers – really take the time to find out what they need and shape your service/business model to fully support this.
Who are the 5 people who inspire you the most and why?
My son is definitely one of the people that inspires me the most. He pushes me to be the best version of myself, reminding me that a balanced work/home life is key to success, and he is a reason for me to put myself out there, be successful and build a secure future for him and my family.
The whole LNH team. We all work so hard and all really care about the business and our customers. It’s inspiring to have those people around you day in, day out.
All the women in my life – friends, family, mentors, colleagues, my network of women are all amazing, strong, supportive, beautiful women!
The artist, author and spiritual teacher Sarah Blondin. I listen to her meditation and poetry – she is calm, centred and inspiring. She helps to settle a busy mind at the end of a long day and focus on the positive steps you’ve made in your journey.
