Daniela is deeply passionate about building new teams, developing new methodologies, and refining marketing tactics to reach maximum potential and creativity.
Inspired marketing is a B2B Tech agency which was established in 2014. Prior to being independent, I was an employee for many years, finding myself constantly frustrated as I knew I was an extremely capable marketing professional but was not being recognised. I have always had a curious mind and dedicated myself to learning new marketing tactics. However, this didn’t always align with the needs of the business or my supervisor’s expectations, resulting in many frustrating moments. I realised that I needed to be an independent consultant and started as a one-woman show – not planning to run an Agency.
I found a niche with digital marketing, search engine optimization, social media, and paid advertising for B2B tech companies, as this is what was needed at the time. The agency has continued to grow and today we have a talented team of 15 and approximately 30 clients from Intel Ignite, Intel Liftoff, Fiverr, Hibob and others.
How did the idea come to you for the company?
The idea to start the company was a way for me to find my happy place and feel passionate about what I was doing. The agency was slowly moving along, and then Covid came hit in 2020. This was the catalyst of transforming the agency into something much bigger than I imagined. As the team already all worked remotely, we were well positioned to continue working without the pandemic impacting our output. We already had project management systems and processes in place, and we were working on digital marketing with was reaching its pinnacle during 2020-2021. All businesses that were not already online needed to quickly go online or become irrelevant.
How did you achieve awareness?
I netted my first clients through word-of-mouth. I am a firm believer that if you create real value for our customers, they will be supportive and return for future projects as well as refer potential customers. This was and has always been the cornerstone of my success.
How have you been able to gain funding and grow?
We have been lucky enough to not go the funding route. We bootstrapped as we went along.
What are the key successes?
There have been several key successes, but these stand out the most:
- We have managed to retain and incentivise talent within the agency. We strive to cultivate an organisation of talent development which is a huge draw card, with the team wanting to stay on at the agency.
- We focus on the right type of clients. By identifying the right type of client through intuition, we almost always succeed.
- We focus all our energy on creating value for your current customer base.
- We have put processes in place to ensure that knowledge is maintained and shared throughout the Agency.
What were/are the challenges and how have you overcome these?
There have been several challenges along the way.
The advent of new technology is always challenging however once learnt and understood, it makes a remarkable difference to the way we operate and how we can provide further value to customers.
There is always the chance that talent that has been honed decides to follow a different path. Although disappointing, it is possible our paths will cross again during the journey of life.
What are your plans now/for the future?
For the foreseeable future I would like to continue to grow the agency as well as our knowledge-base and continue to provide the best online digital marketing for our clients while maintaining and building up a first-class team.
What would you like to share with others to encourage them to start their own entrepreneurship journey?
Make sure you are ready for a marathon as there are no short-cuts in life. Be prepared for hardship but also for personal growth. This is not the easy route so be sure why you want it.
Don’t assume anything what worked 5 years ago will work today – it is important to be open-minded and flexible.
Mistakes are part of entrepreneurial life – be ready to make them and more importantly, to learn from them.
Can you share your top tips for entrepreneurial success?
Always be yourself as people are savvy and can see the real you.
Your word is your legacy-make sure it is heard, and you mean it.
Remember to treat others how you would like to be treated – a little kindness and respect goes a long way.
Go with your gut – this is probably the most important tip as you know deep down if it resonates with you and your team or not.
Who are the 5 people who inspire you the most and why?
I would say my top person that inspires me is Oprah Winfrey. After failing several times, she always comes out on top to be the most successful in her Industry.
