She is now a keynote speaker, an angel investor, and a coach and mentor to start-ups. In 2011 she founded Conscious Café, a network that brings people together for connection and discussion.
What would you love to share to encourage other women to start their own business?
Becoming an entrepreneur and building your own business is the most exciting adventure in the world, whether you do it because you have to or because you want to. Be hungry for success because that hunger will always motivate you to go the extra mile and that will help you to stand out from the competition. At the same time, life is more than work so create clear boundaries to ensure you are not working all the time and cut yourself some slack when things don’t always work the way you want, because not every idea you try will succeed. Weigh up risk carefully and watch your money daily so you don’t get caught unawares. Above all, enjoy the creative and fulfilling process of growing your beautiful business.
What are your top 5 tips for entrepreneurial success?
Be prepared to work smarter rather than harder. Keep asking yourself what you can do better or differently or more efficiently?
Build a great team around you. Today’s society is complex and each of us needs supportive colleagues and associates who are on our side.
If you need it, get professional help to understand your finances and the impact of your actions on your balance sheet.
Ask for help from people with experience in your industry and listen carefully. Most people will tell you everything you want and need to know if you take the time to listen.
Business is all about solving problems. Get better at making good decisions.
