Maria Rodriguez, age 30 is the founder of Kind Bag – specially developed to reduce single-use plastic, recycling six old plastic bottles to create each one of its design-led, eco-friendly shopping bags (1). For every Medium bag. For every Mini bag, 4 plastic bottles are recycled.. With sustainability continuing to be the single biggest focus in fashion as increasing numbers of consumers consider the environmental impact of their shopping choices, Kind Bag is part of a growing generation of designers that are putting an eco-conscious ethos at the heart of their collections.
The brand is currently the only reusable bag on the market to use 100% RPET (2), with a completely sustainable and ethical production process – it recycled over 1.5million plastic bottles in its first year of trading. Kind Bag also works with the charity Just One Ocean to donate 10% of all profits to help preserve the oceans for future generations.
What would you love to share to encourage other women to start their own business?
Believe in yourself and don’t be scared of switching career. Lots of skills and ways of thinking are transferable across different industries so if you strongly believe that what you’re doing is needed by others, trust your feelings, no matter how crazy people might think it is!
