What would you love to share to encourage other women to start their own business?

You’re the author of your own life story. If you’re unhappy in a job and are passionate about a business idea, go for it. Remember that starting a business isn’t all fun and games either though – there will be obstacles and plenty of menial tasks.

What are your top 5 tips for entrepreneurial success?

1. Keep on going

Starting a business is not necessarily the hard part. It’s sticking with it when the going gets tough. If something truly isn’t working out it may be worth moving on but if you believe in your idea, persevere! Most businesses aren’t overnight successes.

2. Find your Northern Star

Figure out what you stand for and stick with it. Again, this doesn’t mean your business proposition is forever set in stone but your values should stay consistent over time. At Undercover, we’ve always cared about quality and ethics and have stayed true to this.

3. Be selective about taking advice

I’ve become more careful about whose advice I listen to. I think as a woman I’m more inclined to question my assumptions and I used to be easily unsettled by someone’s advice and opinions. Remember that most people don’t know your business as intimately as you do and there are also lots of different ways to build a successful business.

4.Pick your battles

When I started out I wanted to get every little detail right. Over time, I’ve realised that you’ve got to pick your battles. Some things are worth fighting for, others aren’t.

5. Enjoy it

Success will come more naturally if you enjoy what you’re doing!
