Natasha Williams, 45, has gone from being homeless as a teenager to celebrating 10 years at the helm of a successful property business. A mother of five, she grew up in poverty and survived years of hardship. But she was determined to success and put herself through university, eventually gaining a master’s degree in planning and sustainability from Kingston University and a PhD in social policy at Birmingham University. In 2011 she set up Shape Property Management – now Shape Surveyors – in Birmingham, which has five staff and a £300,000 turnover.
What would you love to share to encourage other women to start their own business?
If you have a dream, go for it. Anything is possible if you have the right mindset. Surround yourself with good, positive people and if things are going wrong, remember they will always get better. Don’t think you know it all – take advice and listen to experts.
