IWD Inspirational Female Founder Spotlight: Lisa Heacock

Lisa Heacock is an International Certified and Accredited Life Coach, Certified Grief Educator, Inspirational Speaker and Breast Cancer Survivor. Lisa is passionate about helping those who are unhappy, unfulfilled, feeling stuck personally or professionally, to gain clarity and take action to create a life of passion and purpose. Lisa is the founder of Holistic Life Coaching with Lisa Marie.

Can you tell us a little about your background and your company?

    I am a passionate life coach, grief coach, and grief educator dedicated to supporting individuals navigating the complexities of loss and personal growth. My journey began with a profound understanding of grief, which inspired me to help others find hope and healing in their own experiences.

    My company focuses on providing compassionate guidance through one-on-one coaching sessions, group workshops, and educational resources. I have 2 areas of focus, Life Coaching/Personal Development and Grief Coaching, helping those who have suffered any type of loss.  I aim to create a safe space for individuals to express their feelings and learn coping strategies tailored to their unique situations. Through my work, I strive to empower clients to rebuild their lives after loss, fostering resilience and personal growth.

    In addition to coaching, I also offer workshops and seminars that educate individuals and communities about the grieving process, emphasising the importance of support and understanding.

    By combining my personal experiences with professional expertise, I hope to inspire and guide others toward healing and fulfilment.

    What inspired you to start your business?

    After losing 12 loved ones in a 22-month period including my niece, my parents and my 24-year-old son-in-law, it changed the trajectory of my life. Grief and loss change you. I knew after I had experienced the loss and used numerous forms of healing modalities, I felt a calling to help others. Life is short and fragile; therefore I wanted to help people who felt stuck, unhappy, unfulfilled, or grieving any type of loss take action to create a life of passion and purpose.

      How did you create awareness for your brand?

      Networking online/in person around the UK. Making connections and building authentic relationships in these communities has allowed me to gain the trust as the expert in my field.

      Social media content – Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and recently YouTube

      Podcast host and guest on numerous podcasts, workshops, and masterclasses have been an integral part of sharing my expertise and allows me to provide practical support for others.

      Public speaking – Speaking at events allows me to reach a wider audience whilst establishing credibility in my field.

      I provide valuable content through blogs, articles, and social media posts focusing on grief and personal development.

      Email marketing – Newsletter

      Testimonials and referrals – My clients are always willing to share their experience and this has allowed me to attract new clients.

        By combining these strategies, I am able to raise awareness for my brand and myself as a trusted Life and Grief Coach.

        What strategies helped you secure funding and scale your business?

        I have invested in myself as a business owner hiring coaches and mentors. I have invested in a professional website and SEO strategist. I hired a Tech VA to assist me with funnels, freebies, etc.

          What has been your biggest successes so far?

          My clients result. Watching men and women’s lives dramatically change right before my eyes in the most rewarding part of my work.

          Starting a business at 51 years old, after numerous losses, a divorce after 28 years of marriage.

          Continuing to build a business during and after breast cancer and mastectomies

            What challenges have you faced, and how did you overcome them?

              • Starting a business at 51 after working in corporate I had to change my mindset from employee to CEO. This has been a process with the help of a coach. 
              • Facing breast cancer and surgeries whilst running a business. I had wonderful support and am grateful my recovery was quick and easy.

              What are your plans for the future?

              Continue to work 1:1 with clients, sharing my story of loss and a recent breast cancer survivor. My desire is to inspire individuals to create a life they love. We are not meant to live a miserable existence. I desire to be on more stages, media coverage and finish my teaching memoir.

                What advice would you give to aspiring female entrepreneurs?

                Ensure your ‘why’ is strong enough to withstand the challenges so you don’t have the option of quitting when it gets difficult. Do not do this alone.

                  What are your top three tips for entrepreneurial success?

                  Delegate the tasks that you do not enjoy or is not your expertise.

                  Find your community of like-minded business owners who will support and encourage you.

                  Who are five people who inspire you the most, and why?

                  My parents – It may sound cliché but my parents were amazing humans who led by example of how to serve others, to care for others and love yourself. They were my biggest cheerleaders.

                  My adult daughters – they have suffered significant losses in their 20’s and watching their resilience has been inspiring. Even though they have suffered so much loss, they have never let their hearts grow hardened.

                  My husband – He has also experienced significant loss and remains loving and thoughtful. He is my biggest cheerleader. His empathy is admirable.

                  Mel Robbins – She inspires me on a personal development level. She is vulnerable and transparent with her own struggles. She is authentic and provides so many powerful tools on how to create a life that you love.

                  Oprah Winfrey – I admire how she overcame adversity to become one of the most powerful women in the world.

                  What are your favourite inspirational or motivational quotes?

                  Maya Angelou – I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.
