IWD Inspirational Female Founder Spotlight: Lucy Pearce

Lucy Pearce, 33, is the founder of House of Amor, a leading brand specialising in DIY beauty solutions. With a focus on at-home lash extensions, press-on nails and other cosmetics, House of Amor aims to empower individuals by offering easy, accessible beauty treatments that help them look and feel their best.

Can you tell us a little about your background and your company?

I started House of Amor with the idea that beauty should be convenient and fun, not a chore. Being a mum myself, I didn’t have the time for all the little rituals that made me feel like myself. House of Amor became a way to solve my own challenges, and in the process, I found that so many other people shared the same struggles. Our brand now helps people all around the globe feel themselves from the comfort of their own homes.

What inspired you to start your business?

It all began with solving a personal problem. I wanted to feel more like myself but didn’t have the time to visit salons or commit to lengthy beauty routines. By creating DIY beauty solutions that are quick, easy and high-quality, I not only helped myself but also so many others who felt the same way.

How did you create awareness for your brand?

I made sure to show up online consistently. By putting my own face and personality behind the brand, I was able to connect with our audience on a more personal level. I also shared behind-the-scenes content and stayed authentic, letting people see the real story behind it all.

What strategies helped you secure funding and scale your business?

House of Amor grew organically without outside funding. From £1000 to multi-millions in just a couple of years.

What have been your biggest successes so far?

Some of our proudest moments include being featured in major publications. House of Amor was rated as the best beauty product of 2024 by British Vogue and received the ‘Best Buy’ recognition from The Independent for our false eyelashes two years in a row.

What challenges have you faced, and how did you overcome them?

Like any business, we’ve had our fair share of hurdles. The key has been to stay resilient. I’ve learned to view setbacks as lessons rather than failures. That mindset has kept me moving forward and finding solutions instead of dwelling on problems.

What are your plans for the future?

House of Amor’s future is all about continued growth. We want to expand our product lines, strengthen our community and keep bringing happiness to our customers.

What advice would you give to aspiring female entrepreneurs?

Don’t give up. The road isn’t always smooth, and that’s perfectly okay. Learn from each experience, and remember that every step forward, even a small one, brings you closer to your goals.

What are your top three tips for entrepreneurial success?

1. Stay authentic to yourself, never forget where you started

2. Build a genuine connection with your customers – my whole business is built around my community.

3. Always be willing to learn and adapt – fast! Times/trends and business change quickly and you need to evolve.

What are your favourite inspirational or motivational quotes?

No one is going to hand you success. You have to go out and get it yourself. Success and business often seem straightforward to outsiders… But, the truth is, what looks like overnight success usually reflects years of hard, unnoticed effort. The reality is that building something meaningful requires commitment and perseverance, and no one else is going to do the work for you – you’ve got to work for it!
