Charlie Copsey is the founder of CopC Productions, a multi-platform production company specialising in events, audio and digital content which also runs the Underground Fan Club, a platform creating experiences and events for fans in sport and fitness and C Hear Content, the brand podcast creators.
She is a producer with over 14 years of experience making content including the award-winning BBC show Fighting Talk and has worked with some of the biggest networks and brands in the UK. She’s produced TV, film, radio, podcasts, digital and events across many genres including sport, comedy, lifestyle, culture and entertainment and has built an enviable black book of high-profile talent she continuously works with.
What would you love to share to encourage other women to start their own business?
“Just do it! There will always be a reason not to start. You haven’t got a comprehensive business plan, you’re not sure on your logo, you’re worried about the competition or the biggest fear of all ‘what if I fail?’. The only way to know all these things is to make a commitment and start. But one thing that is none-negotiable is passion. Running a business is one of the hardest, yet most rewarding things you may ever do. It’s your passion (and a LOT of hard work) that will get you through. It will pick you up when you’re feeling defeated, help you deal with the countless no’s and rejections and it will help block out the moments when you completely doubt yourself. True passion is a force to be reckoned with, so never let it out of your sight.”
What are your top 5 tips for entrepreneurial success?
Surround yourself with a positive network of people who you know will always have your back and you can turn to for advice.
Believe in yourself. If you don’t, then don’t expect anyone else to.
Be kind to everyone. It sounds simple, but don’t underestimate how far this can get you.
Be inspired by your competitors but never compare. Each person is on their own journey so don’t be distracted by someone else’s.
Understand your passion and purpose and if you don’t know what these are, don’t start a business!
