Following a glittering career that included a stint as Head of Events for Soho House Group, Claire Berry set up Perfect Cartel – a creative agency in London specialising in event design and luxury brand experiences. Throughout her career she has planned parties for a whole host of brands, including Chanel, Prada, Bottega Veneta, Apple Music and Universal Pictures in locations all over the world. At the end of 2020, Claire created the podcast The Greatest Party in the World, sitting down with well-known guests who have hosted – or attended – some of the World’s biggest and most exclusive parties, to relive just what it was like to be there and what it takes to create a night your guests will remember.
What would you love to share with other women to encourage them to start their own business?
I started Perfect Cartel feeling unprepared, with no money saved, not a lot of self-belief and not a single client but what I did have was a passion, a strong work ethic and a lot of tenacity. I think that’s what you really need to make it work, and I think those things can be found by anyone who wants something enough!
What are your top 5 tips for entrepreneurial success?
Some of your success will be based on the people around you, invest in the best team you can afford.
You have to do the things that scare you!
Know the difference between a risk and a gamble
From the outside, no one will see the thousands of hours of graft and hustle behind the scenes, but they are necessary so be prepared to do the work.
Try and overdeliver where ever you can to add value. It doesn’t need to be monetary value! Your extra time, energy, ideas are all currency.
